Hello. I am a Japanese person currently studying English. As part of my English studies, I am writing a blog in English.I like traveling, so I write about Japan in English. If you are thinking of traveling to Japan, please use this as a reference.I’m sorry if my English is incorrect.
Have you all heard of Atami? It’s a place you can get to from Tokyo in about two hours by train.
It’s famous for its hot spring town, and there are lots of foreigners and Japanese people here.
This time I’d like to introduce a place in Izu called “Shuzenji Onsen,” which is a little further away.
There were not many Japanese people here, and almost no foreigners.
So I thought it might be a little-known spot, and so I decided to introduce it to you today.
Shuzenji-Onsen in Izu
This is also a hot spring town. It is also known as Izu’s Little Kyoto. There are bamboo forests, hot springs, and temples. This is a historic place. You can get there from Tokyo in about two hours by train.
This is said to be the oldest hot spring in Izu, and it is said that many great Japanese writers have visited here.
There are many hot spring inns in the area, making it a hot spring town, but it is less crowded than Atami or Kusatsu Onsen. The hot spring towns of Atami and Kusatsu Onsen are more lively and have more shops. This is recommended for people who want to enjoy Japan at a leisurely pace.
The website is listed below. The language can also be converted to English, so please check it out.
Izu Mentai Park
This is a mentaiko theme park run by a mentaiko production company. You can tour the factory and buy mentaiko and mentaiko snacks. You can also eat there. It wasn’t large, but there was a place for children to play.
If you’ve never tried mentaiko, try buying some “mentaiko onigiri” (rice balls with mentaiko) at a Japanese convenience store. If you like it, be sure to visit Mentaiko Park. There’s one in Izu, Shizuoka, but also one in Ibaraki Prefecture.
At the end
There are many other recommended places in Japan, so I will introduce them little by little. Please keep checking back!
